The tack room

The tack room of your saddle should offer ideal conditions for storing the saddle. Every leather product should be stored in a dry and warm place with low humidity, regardless of whether it is stored on a saddle rack or in a saddle locker.

Under these conditions, moisture and horse sweat can dry off optimally without, on the other hand, removing too much moisture from the leather and drying it out.

The perfect saddle storage

Ideally, the saddle should be stored hanging freely on a saddle rack. The tack room should be at a moderate temperature with moderate humidity.

The saddle stand for a SIGNUM saddle

Ideally, the saddle should be stored on a saddle stand that either consists of a centre bar only. In this way, the saddle rests on the spinal canal and the pads can hang freely and dry perfectly.

If the saddle stand is to provide more stability, two flat pieces of wood can be attached to the centre bar in the shape of a roof, on which the padding rests parallelly.

We can particularly recommend the solutions from DS-Equiwelt, who can realise individual saddle lockers, saddle racks or complete solutions for your tack room.

Customised solutions from DS-Equiwelt

At SIGNUM, we rely on Giuseppe Tanzarella when it comes to customised solutions. He has not only realised the interior fittings for all our saddle mobiles, but also for various special solutions for ideal saddle storage in our workshop, the warehouse and the tack room in the stable or horse trailer.

The ideal storage of a saddle

Regardless of whether the saddle is stored on a saddle rack, a saddle stand, a saddle stand or in a saddle locker. It is important to maintain the correct humidity and temperature in the room around the saddle.

It is counterproductive to store leather that has become damp in places that are too warm, such as directly on a radiator or in front of a fireplace. Here, the leather would dry out too quickly and too much, causing damage. If leather dries out too much, it loses its supple surface and quickly becomes hard and brittle. If the humidity in the storage location is too high, there is a risk of mould growth.
